FFW

FFW (Friday Flicks and Wafles) last night was a lot of fun. Well last night we should have changed it to FGW (friday Games and Walfes) because we didn't end up watching a movie but played some games. We played Loaded Questions. I broke out my new Texas Hold Em set. I also got to play rummy with my new Napoleon Dynamite playing cards. Very fun.

Scrabble

Scrabble the other night was fun but kind of a bust. I was hoping to go and play with the old ladies :) Taegan and I were the only ones who showed up to play. The Barnes and Noble cafe was very busy but no one was there to play Scrabble. Oh well, It was fun anyways and I got to have my Caramel Machiato.

I clean a house a couple of times a week. One of the jobs that I do for them is I take their dry cleaning to the laundry. I usually go there once a week. I have been doing this for over a year. I always put it in their name in case they end up picking it up. Because I go in there a lot there is this one lady that calls me by name, she says "Hello, Ms. ____" Not Ms. Mishler but the name of the people I clean. I have not corrected her because you know after a while you can't say anything. I love going into a place where they know your name. This lady knows me but does not call me by my name. I feel guilty every time she says my name. I need to start going to the same place so that I will get to know the people.

Home

I'm home after a LONG drive yesterday. I'm from Solon, Iowa and when I was in Ohio they had some advertisement about Solon, Ohio. I have always wanted to go visit so I looked on the map and it showed it was just a little out of my way. It was cool to see. It is a lot bigger than Solon, Iowa. Solon Iowa only has two stop signs in the whole town. One which they just added, which I did not see and ran it the first time I went through town. They are moving up in the world two stop signs instead of one. I think they just added the other one for show. Its not like many people go through there. Ha.

Picture of Solon Ohio

I went back to work today. I still need to unload my car but have not desire to do so. I just bring one thing in every time I go outside. Does anyone want to come and do it for me?

Tonight I'm going with some friends to go play Scrabble. They have Scrabble night every Wednesday night at Barnes and Nobles but I never can go because we have Bible study on Wednesday. We are not having it tonight so I thought I would go. I can imagine that its a bunch of old ladies who are very competitve who play. I know everyone will beat me because everyone knows I can not spell!!! Wish me luck.

In Ohio

I made it to Huron, Ohio. It was a long drive because it has been a long couple of weeks. The good thing is that I left early so I have a few hours to relax before going to bed early. I have been listening to talk radio. This one guy was complaining about how people give gift cards instead of just giving cash. I wish I could have had the phone number and called in. I'm all about gift cards because most likely I would not spend the cash that people would give me on something fun but I would spend it on gas or something. Which is okay but it gives me a reason for buying something fun that I would not normally buy. This year I got 2 gift cards to Barnes and Nobles. I'm very excited about it because I love to read and go have coffee.

So I have a question. In Iowa, the last two weeks I have had to say POP if I wanted something to drink. It has been really strange because no one in Maryland says POP but they say SODA. I went down to the front desk to ask the guy if they had a soda machine. As I was going down there I was thinking do I ask if they have a POP machine or a SODA machine. People know what I mean but which one is right for this area. After asking him if they had a SODA machine and getting a Coke I went back and asked him if they say POP or SODA. He said people around here they say POP but where he is from they say COKE . So where is the line that it switches from POP to SODA to COKE???

I will be back in Maryland tomorrow afternoon.

I can't sleep. I don't know why but I decided to google Pop Soda and the website www.popvssoda.com came up. It shows a map of who says what. Very interesting. Statistically more people in the United States say Pop. It looks like the change starts to happen once you reach Pennsylvania. As you can tell, I get bored fast and have to find something to do. Ha Ha What do you all say, Pop or Soda and where are you from?
Look at this website too http://popvssoda.com/countystats/total-county.html

I'm off!!

Well, I'm getting ready to go back to Maryland. I'm just finishing packing my car. I think I will be paying a little extra on gas because my car ways so much. My Mom is having me bring some stuff back that was in my room here. I'm kind of tired so I'm not really looking forward to my trip back. I wish I could snap my fingers and I would be there. I guess that when flying works out best. But I'm glad that I drove because it was nice having my own car and not having to borrow others all the time. Anyways, I need to load the last of my stuff. I hope to be on the way by 9:00am. Call me if you want to!!

Time

Time goes by so fast. I have been here for a week and two days but it seems like I just got here. Yesterday I went to Cedar Falls and met with some people from my old church. It was great to see them again. I wish I could see them more. Next time I'm back I will have to make time to go up there. I saw my friends, Molly and Jason, new house. Last night I went to where my Dad works. He is head of maintenance at a retirement facility. He dressed up like Santa like he does every year. I was his elf and we handed out fruit to all the residence. My Dad knows all the people and would say their names. A couple of people said "He knows my name" It was really cute because they did not recognize my Dad.
Today I finally got a day to sleep in. I got up at 10:00. I went to pick up my car from the shop. I got new brake pads and routers. $400!! I got a little help from my Mom and Dad. Okay so I got a lot of help from them. Thanks Mom and Dad.
Now I'm off to go have dinner with Molly before meeting my Mom and sister for a movie.

On the road again.

On Tuesday I went back to my sisters. This time it was a 6 hour drive to her basketball game. Her team won 33 to 32. It was a great game. Maggie seems to be a good coach. On the way up we listened to a book on CD. I didn't listen that much because I was doing homework. It was actually good that the trip was that long because I got a lot of homework done that if I was sitting at home I don't know if I would have done it that long. I only have a little bit more to go to get done with one assignment. My mom and I stayed at my sisters house. She has a really cute kitten, Smokey. I almost took him. So we got to Maggie's place around 12:00 midnight and left again the next morning. We went to see my Grandma because I don't think I will see her on Christmas. We took her out to dinner and went to look at Christmas lights. We got home to Solon at 10:00. what a long couple of days. I'm ready for a long cat nap. But again I'm off today. I have to leave in half hour to go to Cedar Falls. Which is only about 1 1/2 hours away. I'm going to go meet some people at the church that I went to when I was in college. I'm very excited to see them again. So I better get ready. By the way we are hitting a heat wave. It is 21 degrees out now.

SO COLD!!!!!

Some may say I'm a baby when it comes to being cold, well I might have to say thats true. It has been so cold here. It gets to the point where going outside it takes a way your breath. I spent the weekend with my Dad and Jan, with Jan's family in LaMars Iowa. It was an 5 hour drive. I'm going back up there on Tuesday because my sister Maggie coaches basketball. I got to see my sister's house. A nice farm house, again cold so I don't think I could live there :) Maggie asked me to be her maid of honor for her wedding in September. That should be fun. My dad got me the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I watched a little of it until I got tired and took at nap. Go figure. Now I'm home watching a poker tournament on tv. Again getting motivated to clean out my room and get ride of my school stuff from high school. Oh the memories. Its 2 degrees here!!!!! Pray that I don't freeze to death. :)

Love it here

I don't realize until I come home how much Iowa is so much different than Maryland. The one thing is that it snows so much here!!! There is so much snow here. Bring out the snow mobile. They are everywhere. Very fun. Right now the weather says it is 18 F. Feels like 3!!! Thats right 3. Just for kicks I looked to see what it is in Poznan and it said it is 32. It is warmer in Poland!! Now I know why I live in Maryland. :) Just kidding. While I have been back I have gone to see my favorite people and gone to eat at the places that can only be found in Iowa. Happy Joes canadian Bacon Pizza is the best in Iowa!!!! I say Molly and Jason last night which was great. Now I'm just getting my self motivated to do a little school work. Hope everyone is enjoying the cold weather.

Iowa

Yeah. I'm in Iowa. I drove from Maryland to Iowa with a little detour to Michigan. On Tuesday night I went to Ann Arbor to visit some GCM friends. I went out to eat with Meghan, Karl and Kevin. It was so great to see them. We went to a campus Christmas party. On Wednesday morning I drove the rest of the day to Iowa. Now I'm here. Having fun!!!

Midnight Madness

So I'm not much of a shopper but when I heard that last night was Midnight Madness in Downtown Annapolis I had to go. All the stores stay open until 12. I didn't get downtown until 11:00pm so we had an hour to shop. I met my roommates down. I was really looking for some gifts that are related to Annapolis. I found a couple of things but still need more.
I found out that I get to go with Brooke to the Polish Embassy on Monday. Very excited. I have been there but only to the library part. I need to practice my Polish. :) Yeah right. I can say hello and how are you and some other random stuff. I can count, say where is the train station. Well I don't think this stuff will do much good at the Embassy. I will have to talk to Anna and get some more words.
So what are some ideas of the best Christmas present?

Happy Monday

Hey all!! I hope everyone had a great weekend. On Saturday we had our leaf raking party. We filled over 70 bags!!! It was fun. I'm so glad that we got it done before the snow came. By the way, people in Maryland are so scared of driving in the snow. It is very funny. My Iowa blood comes out when it snows. I still hate being cold but I don't mind driving in the snow.
On Sunday I thought my Sunday school class. Those girls are so fun to be with. On Saturday we are going to see the movie The Chronicles of Narnia. I also taught the Middle school during second service. I talked to them about Poland and about missions. I think they got something out of what I said. They are a cool group of kids!!
We also had our new church building tour on Sunday afternoon. Any time that anyone mentioned the word tour all I could think of was the movie National Lampoon Las Vegas Vacation when they went on a tour of the Hoover Dam. (Welcome to your Dam tour, stay on the dam tour) The church building is coming a long great. Its going to be very exciting once we are in there.
Crossroads was awesome last night. Brian did an awesome job. Awesome worship and awesome message. www.crssrds.org
I called CIU today and ordered the book that I could not find. So thinks for all you that helped look for it with me.
Well I should go read one of my books. Talk to you all later.

The Book is in

I got my first book for my class today. From Jerusalem to Irian Jaya. Big book but looks good!!! I just ordered one of the other ones but I still don't know where to find the book Putting together the Puzzle of the Old Testament.

Tonight Mary and I went to see the movie Pride & Prejudice. Very good movie. I would recommend all to see it. (unlike the movie Jarhead, Please don't spend your money to see that one)

Leaf party tomorrow. All is invited. 10:00 to 2:00. Lunch is provided.
